dc.description.abstractAbstract. Objective: Professions such as in Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physiotherapy (PT) are expected to work closely together in practice. This inter-professional way of working has been recognised as a key aspect of professional practice, so much so that inter-professional education (IPE) has become a key feature of work force planning in the National Health Service in the UK. We recently used the sport of Wheelchair basketball as an inter-professional learning activity. The aim of this study was to examine Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy students’ perceptions of Wheelchair Basketball as an Inter-Professional Learning activity. Method: Thirty two final year PT and OT students completed a mixed methods questionnaire following a wheelchair basketball training day. Descriptive statistics were generated and thematic analysis conducted. Results: A majority of the students rated wheelchair basketball as a useful and important skill to have for their future practice. Two main themes emerged from the open ended questions including ‘we should never say someone can’t’ and ‘respecting the challenge’. Conclusion: Overall the use of Wheelchair Basketball as an inter-professional learning activity was a positive and successful endeavor.
