Brunel has established itself as a major player in the UK law research landscape and is now ranked in the top ten in the UK for research.

Students are the first beneficiaries of this research culture. At Brunel great importance is attached to the quality of both teaching and research. All members of the academic staff are actively engaged in substantial research. This in turn informs teaching and enables students to benefit from the latest scholarship available. Our students have access to the information first hand, even before it is published. In the 2001 HEFCE Research Assessment Exercise, Law was graded 5A. All academic staff were entered in the exercise. This result confirms Law at Brunel as a centre of international research excellence, and amongst the very best for research in the UK. If you are already a graduate and thinking of studying for a PhD, Brunel can offer access to experts in many fields.

For more details, please have a look at our dedicated pages or contact Susan Easton, Director of Research in the Law subject section. But remember it is not just excellent research you will benefit from. Brunel is also ranked 20th in the Guardian League Tables 2005 for Law teaching. It got a perfect score for staff.
