Abstract: | This article considers a recent mash-up novel by US author Lori Handeland, "Shakespeare Undead" and the ways in which it negotiates the dominant version of Shakespeare in western culture. It does this by positing two versions of Shakespeare, one akin to Dracula and the other to the current trend in "romantic" vampires a la Edward Cullen in "Twilight". |
