Abstract: | A year long industrial placement with Remote Controlled Lighting as part of Nourse’s course highlighted a need within the Architectural Lighting market for a LED lamp that utilised Variable Beam Width technology. After confirming that there was indeed a need for this product with a number of industry contacts, Nourse went on to pursue the development of the lamp for his final year major project. The experience gained during placement, together with a design process that he described as ‘research, develop, design, test, develop, design, test…’ enabled Nourse to produce a working prototype which confirmed that his design met the needs of the market. |
