Abstract: in this paper, a new power consumption model for Cloud Radio Access Network (C-RAN) architecture based on virtualization of Base Band Unit (BBU) has been introduced. Moreover, it is proposed a Host Server (HS) in the BBU pool that hosts a Modified Best Fit Decreasing (MBFD) algorithm to optimize reconfiguration of BBUs to proper Remote Radio Heads (RRHs). The simulation results show the MBFD effectively better in decreasing the number of active BBUs and decrease power consumption compared with Best Fit Decreasing (BFD) algorithm and traditional network.
