The Tories’ victory, albeit a narrow one, in the Uxbridge by-election in June 2023 gave their climate-sceptic MPs a golden opportunity to pressure the government to water down its net zero policies. Similarly, those newspapers which clamoured for Brexit have been equally determined to demand that the government weakens its climate policiesen_US
