dc.description.abstractGroup project modules provide valuable opportunities for students to develop collaborative, technical, and professional skills. However, they also present persistent challenges related to uneven participation, project coordination and consistent support. In this paper, we discuss the redesign and delivery of a year-long Computer Science group-project module for a large cohort of 418 students. To address these challenges, the redesigned module introduced a two-tier structure and scaffolding model that combined small start-up teams, staged formative deliverables, agile development practices and regular tutor checkpoints. We examine how this model supported collaboration, individual learning, and students’ progression from project ideation to full-stack software integration. We present findings from the redesign, which indicate improved student engagement, better student outcomes, and substantially higher satisfaction than in previous years. We also reflect on the teaching strategies we used and the implementation challenges we encountered.en_US
