Abstract: An assessment was carried out on predictive methods and existing correlations for calculating two-phase heat transfer rates and Critical Heat Flux (CHF) in sprays as part of a long-term experimental investigation. Twenty two correlations were compared using HFE-7100 as a working fluid. A clear discrepancy is found in this comparison, although most of these correlations were proposed for the same or similar working fluids. Different methods used in past works reported in the literature could be one of the main reasons for this disagreement. The governing dimensionless parameters that could affect heat transfer mechanisms are also identified in the present paper and recommendations for design purposes are made.
